Day of Ukrainian Written Language on the Faculty of Foreign Languages

On the November 9 on the Faculty of Foreign Languages the soiree dedicated to the Day of Ukrainian Written Language was conducted.
The culture event was prepared by Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor of the Department of World Literature and Russian Linguistics S. V. Lenska with the assistance of Candidates of Philology, Associate Professors O.O. Vernik and L.A. Cherednik.
The foreign students acquainted with ancient, but nevertheless youthful Ukrainian culture, richness of its traditions and charms of nature, peculiarities of its language. Students were charmed by beautiful Ukrainian songs, were interested in the embroidered rushnyki and sorochki, but especially they liked Ukrainian hopak performed by well-known P. Virsky ensemble. There was nobody who would stay indifferent to the shown presentation and video.
The main attention was paid to the origin of Ukrainian language, its peculiarity, the history of the written language origin, the history of holiday. The chronicler Nestor, Saints Cyril and Methodius, pages of Primary Chronicle and Ivan Fiodorov’s Cyrillic ABC-book came alive on the slides of the theme presentation. S. V. Lenska told interesting facts about harmony and resplendence of Ukrainian language and its main “special appeals”. The audience expressed thanks by a storm of applause.
