The Academic Council Meeting

The planned meeting of the Academic Council was held at the University.

Two main issues were discussed on the agenda:

• Results of the admission campaign 2017 and preparations for its holding in 2018;
• Competitive affairs.

At the beginning of the meeting, the employees of the technical group of the Admission Committee, who made efforts to organize a successful admission campaign, were awarded with certificates for fruitful work.

A report on the results of the 2017 admission campaign and preparations for its holding in 2018 was made by Ya.I. Yurkiv and N.Yu. Matzai. Having heard and discussed the reports of the responsible secretary of the Admission Committee and the head of the educational center “Donbas-Ukraine”, the Academic Council noted that the University and its structural subdivisions as a whole ensured satisfactory organization of admission to all educational degrees and educational and qualification levels and forms of education in 2017.

During the preparation for admission, were developed and approved the Rules for Admission to the University; the list of specialties and training programs; certificates of the External independent evaluation, entrance examinations on educational degrees of bachelor and master, educational and qualification level of junior specialist; proposals on the amount of admission to the budget form and at the expense of other sources of financing. Also all necessary exam materials for entrance examinations were prepared.

The Admission Committee, Marketing Department, educational and research institutes, faculties, and separate subdivisions carried out the corresponding advertising and career guidance work: open days in the cities of Starobilsk, Kreminna, Poltava. Visits to educational institutions of various types and levels of all districts of Luhansk region were carried out; information about the university is posted on the Internet and on the pages of educational and research institutes and faculties in social networks; the advertising of the educational institution in the mass media, the targeted distribution of advertising and propaganda materials; the registration post of participants of the External independent evaluation for graduates of past years was created; the advertising banners about the activities of the University Educational Center “Donbas-Ukraine” were posted at the checkpoint in Stanytsia Luhanska; the targeted advertising and career guidance work was held with military personnel, whose units are based on the territory of the Luhansk region.

The total amount of admission to the university, taking into account all the separate subdivisions, levels and degrees of education, was 3612 people, which is 107 more than in the previous year. During the admission campaign, the university educational center “Donbas-Ukraine” granted more than 489 consultations and registered 249 people from the temporarily uncontrolled territories and settlements located on the contact line, who expressed a desire to study at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. 224 persons started their studies in the first year.

The Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work Dmytro Uzhchenko made a report about the competitive affairs. By secret ballot, scientists were elected to the post of the Director of the Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences, head of the Department of Commodity Research, Commercial Business and Products Expertise, head of the Department of Political Science and Legal Studies, head of the Department of Social Work, head of the Department of History of Ukraine and professor of the Department of Algebra and Systems Analysis.

Among Miscellaneous it was recommended to publish methodical recommendations, teaching aids, the topic of the candidate’s dissertation was adjusted, and the self-analysis report on the accreditation of activities for providing educational services in higher education was approved.
