Small Olympic Games

The traditional Small Olympic Games took place at the separate subdivision “Regional Center for Vocational Education of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” (Starobilsk Branch).”

The main goal and task of the event was to instill in students love for sports and physical education, interest in sports competitions, development of creative abilities, imagination and education in them of a sense of friendship, collectivism, ability to control their actions.

The opening of the games began with the professions parade, training of which is conducted in the department. The first to enter the sports tracks were representatives of the profession “Locksmith on car repairs, drivers of category “C”, then were students of the profession “Tractor driver of agricultural (forestry) production”, a team of professions “Office employee (Accounting)” and “Computer-typed operator”, a team of professions “Truck Crane Operator” and “Electrician for repair and maintenance of electrical equipment”.

The right to make Olympic fire was given to the best sportsmen of the subdivision Ivan Zigriychuk and Dmytro Serikov. Participants of the sports holiday with sincere and kind words were congratulated by the Director of the Regional Center for Vocational Education Mykola S. Kurylo and the Vice-Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Oleksandr Babichev.

After the opening, athletics races were held for 500 m (girls) and 1000 m (boys). Competitions in mini-football among boys took place on three football fields. Also were held table tennis and volleyball competitions. “Merry Relay Races” took place for students who were not involved in competitions.

The staff of the Regional Center for Vocational Education expresses special thanks to the chairman of the Primary Trade Union Organization of the University Volodymyr Moroz, the dance group led by O.A. Nemtseva, students majoring in “Physical Education” Maksym Popov, Yegor Kornienko, Oleksii Haiduk, Maksym Reshetnyak, and Artem Skachkov for professionalism during the judging of sports competitions.
