Students of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology took part in the training on the counteracting gender-based violence.
September 29-30, 2017 in the city of Severodonetsk, a two-day training was held on the issues of counteracting gender-based violence and domestic violence for social workers in the Luhansk region. The project is implemented with the support of the International Alert and the EU, as well as the crisis psychological service.
The students of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology Iryna Maslovska and Vladislava Potyomina and the postgraduate student of the Institute, psychologist of the Center for Psychosocial Adaptation (Starobilsk) Anton Nazmiev took part in the training.
The aim of the training was to increase awareness of gender concepts and to disclose the concept of “gender-based violence”, which includes, among other things, the notion of “domestic violence”.
The content of the training was familiarization of participants with international and national legislation in the field of prevention and counteraction to gender-based violence; disclosure of the essence of the powers of the subjects of society, which are responsible for the implementation of measures to prevent domestic violence; discussion of optimization ways of interaction of community subjects with specialists.
As a result, the participants of the training mastered the skills of effective planning and provision of services to support family members affected by the problem of violence; learned how to interact with diverse social institutions to address gender and domestic violence. Also, methodological recommendations on the organization of interdepartmental interaction of subjects providing services to victims of violence were discussed.
