4.10.2017
The coordinator of the Maltese Relief Service in Ukraine made a monitoring visit to the Center for Psychosocial Adaptation.
In connection with the military events in the East of Ukraine and the large number of displaced persons in the city of Starobilsk, there was a need to adapt the displaced persons to the modern conditions of life, their social and pedagogical support and help in overcoming the traumatic events. For this purpose, the Center for Psychosocial Adaptation has been operating for a year in our city on the initiative of the Psychological Crisis Service with the support of the NGO “Ukrainian Association of Specialists in Overcoming the Effects of Psycho-Traumatic Events”, which operates with the financial support of the German Foreign Ministry and the Charity Organization “Maltese Relief Service”.
Britta Schweighotter, coordinator of the Maltese Relief Service in Ukraine, and Tetyana Nazarenko, member of the board of the NGO “Ukrainian Association of Specialists in Overcoming the Consequences of Psycho-Traumatic Events”, reviewed the activities of the establishment and determined the prospects for further work. Also at the event were teachers and students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, specialists of the Center for Social Services for the Family, Children and Youth and the Department of Education of the Starobilsk District State Administration, representatives of the Luhansk Regional Universal Scientific Library named after M. Gorky, human rights women’s organization “Victoria” and military men of the civil-military cooperation group. All of them are regular visitors of the Center for Psychosocial Adaptation and talked about their impressions of the work of the establishment and its role in their integration under new conditions.
The coordinator of the institution Olena Dorogavtseva reported on the activities and cooperation of the Center with various institutions. In particular, Olena Gennadievna focused on work with first-year students and internally displaced persons.
At the end of the event, Mrs. Britta Schweighotter thanked all those present, noted that the activities of the Center for Psychosocial Adaptation were important for the population, and expressed the hope that local authorities would also support the institution.
