3.10.2017
Japan is an exceptional country that is enchanting and inspiring. In early October, in Poltava, due to the year of Japan in Ukraine, was conducted an exhibition – the cultural project “Japan. Tradition of Beauty”.
Students of the specialty “Japanese and English Language and Literature” with enthusiasm perceived this news and were happy to come together to touch the culture of the country which language they are learning. The exhibition featured author’s photos, information stands showing the history, features of Japan’s culture and art, national clothing-kimono and Japanese dolls. During October there will be master classes on origami and techniques of Japanese painting, a lecture on Japanese cinema and a “warrior path”, as well as a master class on the game “Go”, a traditional board game in Japan.
The exhibition was opened due to the international project “New Acropolis”. “New Acropolis” is an international organization of philosophical, cultural and social orientation. Founded in 1957 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, by historian and philosopher Professor Jorge Angel Livraga (1930-1991).
Today “New Acropolis” exists in more than 50 countries of the world on 5 continents, uniting more than 15,000 volunteers and thousands of like-minded people who speak 15 languages and represent different denominations and nationalities.
In Ukraine, “New Acropolis” has been in Kiev since 1991, as well as in Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Lviv, Odessa, Nikolaev, Poltava, Zaporozhye and Ivano-Frankivsk.
After learning that a group of our students is directly related to Japanese culture, the exhibition management even allowed us to help put on the traditional belt “obi” on kimono dummies and complete the images.
