Victory at the Ukrainian Weightlifting Championship

Athletes of the University took part and won the Ukrainian Weightlifting Championship.

The sporting event was held from September 18 to 24 in the arena of the Lviv Palace of Sports “Ukraine”. 211 leading weightlifters of the country arrived in Lviv, who represented teams from 22 regions of Ukraine and Kyiv (among them were 79 women and 132 men).

The team of the Luhansk region was represented by 12 athletes: 5 women and 7 men. All of them are students of the Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports and pupils of the weightlifting department of the higher sportsmanship school.

Our athletes, first-year students majoring in “Secondary Education. Physical Culture” in the weight category up to 69 kg Oleksii Shkursky won the gold medal (according to the results of two exercises – 285 kg, push jerk – 124 kg, push press – 161 kg), Vitalii Sergeev won the silver medal (according to the results of two exercises – 273 kg, push jerk – 128 kg, push press – 145 kg).

In addition, the second-year student majoring in “Physical Culture and Sports. Sports” Bohdan Buryachek was in the top five in the weight category up to 105 kg. He has the overall fifth place with the sum of the biathlon – 381 kg.

According to the results of the competitions, the team of the Luhansk region took the third team place among men.
