Honoring the memory of fallen soldiers
29.9.2017
Students and teachers of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University honored the memory of the deceased defenders of Ukraine.
The year 2014 was filled with pain and sorrow, and became a turning point in Ukrainian state construction. It was then that military events began in the east of Ukraine, and our people faced a difficult test and was forced to prove their right to a decent and independent life.
Releasing the city of Schastya in September 2014, Ukrainian servicemen were killed, some of whom were buried in the city cemetery in Starobilsk. Today, residents of the city, among whom are students of our University, gathered at the funeral service and remembered the terrible events of three years ago.
At the beginning of the event, the volunteer Nadezhda Nescheret turned to the audience and reminded about the unbearable pain of relatives who lost their loved ones in 2014. In addition, the participant of the hostilities Viktor Malakhov made a speech, after which N. Nescheret read out her poem to the students present. She noted that the younger generation must remember the feat of Ukrainian defenders and the great price of our independence.
After the solemn speeches, all present honored the memory of the dead fighters with a minute of silence and together prayed for the future of Ukraine and our servicemen.
