Meeting with the President

Representatives of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University took part in the meeting with the President of Ukraine.

On September 28, the Law of Ukraine “On Education” came into force. The meeting of P.O. Poroshenko with Ukrainian teachers was devoted to the special features of the educational reform. The delegation from Luhansk region was headed by the deputy chairman of Luhansk Regional State Administration O.P. Lishyk. Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University was represented by the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work D.V. Uzhchenko and the Director of the Regional Center for Vocational Education M.S. Kurylo.

At the beginning of the event, the teachers were congratulated by the President of Ukraine P.O. Poroshenko, Minister of Education L.M. Grinevych and First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Science and Education of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine O.V. Spivakovsky.

The President Petro Poroshenko stressed that the Law “On Education” opens the way to the long-awaited systemic education reform. “It allows forming an individual educational trajectory for each person. The new law provides freedom of choice and self-determination for pupils, freedom of pedagogical creativity for education workers. He asserts the freedom of educational institutions by establishing broad autonomy,” – the head of state stressed.

Also, Petro Oleksiyovych informed of the planned further increase in teachers’ salaries in 2018.

At the end of the event, the President thanked the teachers for their work and congratulated them on their professional holiday. “Being a teacher is a real art. It requires talent and perseverance, responsibility and sacrifice,” – the head of state noted.
