International Student Sports Day

The Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports took part in the celebration of the International Student Sports Day.

This holiday was founded by the General Conference of UNESCO on the initiative of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) in November 2015 and is held annually on September 20. For the first time, the Luhansk region joined the west, where the Luhansk regional branch of the Committee for Physical Education and Sports of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine acted as an organizer.

More than 100 students from the physical culture teams of the universities of the region took part in the competitions. The holiday began with the welcoming speech of the Olympic champions and the winners of the Olympic Games O.A. Bryzgina, V.A. Bryzgin. and I.V. Yanovych. They gave the start to the flashmob. Traditionally the participants of the competitions performed the flexion and extension of the hands in the support lying (22 times).

Students of the IPES took part in all kinds of sports program, which were presented at the event. The most popular and spectacular were beach volleyball among men, streetball (men and women) and tug of war.

In the beach volleyball competitions, 12 teams were represented. The honor of the institute was defended by: Yaroslav Onischenko, Oleksandr Shestak and Bohdan Ochkasov. In the final game, they lost only two points to the winners.

The men’s streetball was represented by Vitalii Kondratenko, Ivan Orlov, Nikita Kalita and Andrii Ukraintsev. They  took the second place out of ten teams. Valeria Gorelova, Olena Zinova and Lyubov Novikova in women’s streetball competitions took the 5th place.

In competitions in tug-of-war, our students (Bogdan Zuyakov, Serhii Sinyansky, Oleksandr Bazaley, Yaroslav Dramaretsky, Andrii Laguteyev, Igor Dmitriev, Eugen Babich and Oleksii Dudkovsky stopped a step from the final part of the competition.

All participants of the competition received a lot of emotions. We hope that the celebration of student sport on September 20 in Ukraine will become traditional and will help the promotion of a healthy lifestyle among students.
