Celebration of the Anniversary of the Birth of the Great Kobzar

The anniversary of the birth of the Great Kobzar was celebrated in Starobilsk.

In spite of the forced evacuation the public-spirited students and teachers of Luhansk National University found an opportunity to pay tribute to the genius of the Ukrainian people whose name the university bears.

On March 9 the traditional for the university event was held – the procession and lying flowers in front of the monument to Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko. Usually quite and provincial city center was crowded during the day off. And it couldn’t be otherwise because everyone who felt as a part of LNU family today has got into the spirit of Shevchenko’s poetry, self-esteem and fierce desire to defend own country and native Alma Mater.

Today the work of Taras Shevchenko is more relevant for the Ukrainians than ever. It is so important for the students and teachers of our university who go through hard times again. Our university worthily bears the name of the Great Kobzar because even in such difficult period we don’t give up and we are fighting for the Ukrainian future of Luhansk National University.
