Health Day

Health Day took place at the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology with military men, real field kitchen, Cossack kulish and compote.

The staff of teachers and students of the ER IPP together with the administration, students-soldiers, employees of the International Charity Fund “SOS Children’s Villages”, teachers of the Department of Physical Education left for the Day of Health in Birch Grove, the city of Starobilsk.

Warm sunny weather, yellow-purple forest, good mood, and the spirit of collectivism made the atmosphere in which students and teachers immersed.

The event was opened by the Rector Serhii Savchenko, the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work Oleksandr Babichev, Oleksandr Meniailenko, Dmytro Uzhchenko, Director of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology Olena Karaman, Deputy Director Vira Pushko. The military also made a welcoming speech.  In response students presented their teams.

It was a real surprise for everybody in the grove. Our defenders – the military, who every day defend the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine in its far east, deployed a real soldier field kitchen. They cooked a real Cossack dish according to an old recipe, a tasty compote and healing herbal tea.

No one has tried this cook yet! Both students and teachers approached the chef several times for the addition, thanks to his skill and unsurpassed taste of the dish.

Representatives of the student self-government of the Institute offered the scenario of the holiday: contests, sports competitions, recreation.

Therefore, the students broke into 10 teams in the specialties. Each team prepared a presentation: a name of the team, a motto, a song, a favorite dish.

The mottos and names of the teams appeared to be original: the Pandas (2 KO), Extremals (2 P), Youth (2 PO), One Family (1 DO), Winners (1 PO), Vytrebenki (1 POUML), Speech therapists (1 KO), SP-Ya (1 SP), Just do it (1 P), Friendship (Student Self-Government).

Most of all present was surprised by the skill of students in preparing national dishes, such as: the Ukrainian loaf decorated with viburnum, vareniki with cracklings in sour cream, pancakes with various fillings, meat and fruit cakes, shish kebabs, etc.

The teacher of physical education N.A. Gayduk held sports competitions and relay races: “Funny starts”, “Tug of war”, “Volleyball”, etc.

Employees of the International Charity Fund “SOS” Children’s Villages “organized a real “Disneyland” for students: mobile games-competitions including “Tracks”, “Bananas”, “Tunnel”, “Webs”, “Django”, “Spit”, “Parachute”. 

Servicemen became objective judges of the competitions. None of the participants was left without prizes.

At the big and friendly table all participants of the Health Day, by coincidence, represented the East and West of Ukraine, expressed their sincere wishes for good health, peace, unity and integrity of our country, peace and VICTORY!!!

We, teachers and students, are infinitely grateful to our defenders for the feat they do every day, protecting the Motherland and each of us at the cost of their own lives.

In addition to defensive and protective functions, servicemen fulfill the high mission of educating the younger generation in the region of Ukraine, which is the most difficult in the political and socio-economic sense, constantly experiencing a purposeful and powerful military and information attack; participate in all cultural and educational activities of the University, educating students respectful and tolerant attitude to the diversity of cultural traditions in Ukraine, forming a positive image of the defender of the Fatherland; demonstrating an example of courage, fortitude, love for the Fatherland, high moral qualities.

Now Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and servicemen act as a united front in upholding the integrity of Ukraine.

The holiday of health, beauty and unity was over … Students returned from the event a little tired, but with funny jokes and vivid memories. This event united them, allowed them to feel the team spirit and involvement in a large and glorious family named “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University”.

And the servicemen wished to continue the holiday. And not only with the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, but with the whole University! After the Birch Grove, they turned the field kitchen on the university grounds, and all the staff and students of the University were able to try the Cossack kulish!

The nature of Starobilsk district is really magical! Therefore, appreciate every day of golden autumn, gain health, energy, inspiration …. In fact, there is a whole academic year ahead, which will be bright and rich!
