Head of the educational center “Donbas-Ukraine” of LTSNU N.Yu. Matzai attended the training “Information campaign on ensuring equal access of children from the east of Ukraine to secondary education”.

The educational center “Donbas-Ukraine” provides the implementation of the program of affordable education for residents of Luhansk and Donetsk regions from the territory of the antiterrorist operation and settlements, located on the demarcation line, for the second year. This year, the specialists of the educational center of our University provided about 500 consultations to the entrants. Some of them have already become students of our University.

The results of the work of the educational centers and the prospects for further work were discussed during the training “Information campaign on ensuring equal access of children of the east of Ukraine to secondary education”. The organizer of the event was the head of the Public Foundation “Open Policy Foundation” Iryna Zhdanova, coordinator of the programs of the Open Policy Foundation Iryna Zagorodnya, chief specialist of the Department of the State and Public Administration of Education of the Department of General Secondary and Pre-school Education of the MES Olga Malysheva, as well as heads of centers “Donbas-Ukraine” of the Luhansk region.

During the training, participants focused on the peculiarities of introducing innovative distance education to ensure equal access to secondary education of children living in the territories where state authorities temporarily do not exercise their powers. Iryna Zhdanova stressed that the government’s plans should include programs and activities not only to restore destroyed schools, but also to conduct a powerful nationwide information campaign, as well as create a network of “hot lines” in the regions.

Olga Malysheva told about the organization of external studies and distance education in general educational institutions. Participants of the training expressed their views on the problem, focusing on the important role of this issue in modern conditions.

The report of the director of the Distance Learning Center of Volodymyr Dahl East-Ukrainian University Oleksandr Brezhnev was devoted to the peculiarities of distance learning organization, which is a prerequisite for pupils’ access to quality education.

At the end of the event, Iryna Zhdanova assured that the cooperation between the Department of Education and Science of the Regional State Administration and Open Society Foundation “Open Policy” regarding the creation of a network of schools with distance education, as well as the education of people from temporarily uncontrolled territories will continue in the most favored-nation mode.
