The student of the Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports became the world champion in powerlifting.

Athletes of our University continue to receive international awards and glorify the name of the native Alma Mater. So recently, the master student majoring in “Physical Culture and Sports” of the Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports, the master of sports of Ukraine of international class in powerlifting Danylo Kovalyov became the world champion among juniors.

Competitions, attended by more than 150 athletes from 24 countries, were held in Orlando (the USA) from August 28 to September 3. Danylo Kovalyov performed in the weight category of 105 kg and won medals of the championships in all three exercises of powerlifting. The athlete defeated 390 kg in the squat and received a silver medal; the third result – 272.5 kg was in the press bench. The most successful was the performance in deadlift, where our student won a gold medal with a result of 320 kg.

Good indicators allowed Danylo for the first time in his life to become a world champion. Gold medal in the amount of triathlon (982.5 kg) – a worthy gift to the beginning of the academic year!
