The Academic Council Meeting

The planned meeting of the Academic Council took place at the University.

Four main issues were on the agenda:

• Results of the work of the University for the academic year 2016-2017 and tasks for the academic year 2017-2018;
• Approval of the work plan of the university Academic Council for the academic year 2017-2018;
• Approval of curricula and programs for the academic year 2017-2018;
• Competitive affairs.

At the beginning of the meeting, the chairman of the Supervisory Council of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, People’s Deputy of Ukraine Vitalii S. Kurylo addressed the audience. He congratulated the members of the Academic Council on the beginning of the academic year, wished fruitful work and focused attention on the tasks that need to be addressed.

The Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Serhii V. Savchenko made a report on the results of the work of the University in the academic year 2016-2017 and tasks for the academic year 2017-2018. He noted that during the period of activity in the city of Starobilsk the University continues to develop, as evidenced by the victory at the Eighth International Exhibition “Modern Educational Establishments – 2017” and the Grand Prix award “Leader of Higher Education of Ukraine”.

The success of the admission at the university can be judged by two indicators: the results of the admission campaign and the effectiveness of advertising and career guidance work. The most significant achievement of LTSNU in the academic year 2016-2017 is the preservation and replenishment of the contingent of students and staff, high quality indicators in educational activities.

In 2016, Luhansk National University hosted 8 international, 19 All-Ukrainian and 19 regional scientific conferences.

One of the priorities of the team of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University aimed at its integration into the world educational and scientific space is the international activity. In the academic year 2016-2017, four agreements were concluded with the universities of Poland and Georgia on cooperation in the fields of educational, scientific, cultural activities and the implementation of specific projects within the ERASMUS + program. The University became a co-executor of four international grants, scientific and educational projects and programs, guaranteed by the British Council, UNDP, USA Embassy.

Thanks to cooperation with the Embassies of South Korea and the Czech Republic, the University received assistance to ensure the quality of the educational process.

During the year, social and humanitarian work at the University was carried out in 13 directions, among which, in particular, the socio-psychological adaptation of the first-year students and internally displaced persons to training and life in the new conditions; the formation of national and cultural traditions of young people in conditions of European integration; preservation and development of corporate culture.

Summing up the report of the Rector, the chairman of the Supervisory Council of the University Vitalii Kurylo noted the development prospects of LTSNU, among which is improvement of material and technical support. Vitalii Semenovych thanked the pedagogical team for working in difficult conditions, and noted that our University will continue to win new awards and victories.

At the meeting, the plan of work of the Academic Council for the academic year 2017-2018 was heard, discussed and approved.

V.V. Lesnova made a report on the approval of curricula and programs for the academic year 2017-2018. Having heard and discussed the report of the acting head of the Educational Department, the curricula were approved for the academic year 2017-2018 and corrections were made to the curricula of some specialties.

The Vice-Rector on Scientific and Pedagogical Work Dmytro V. Uzhchenko spoke about the competitive affairs. Halyna N. Minenko was elected to the post of Director of “Lysychansk Pedagogical College of LTSNU” by secret ballot.

Among miscellaneous, the theme of the project of fundamental scientific research was approved, the theme of the candidate’s dissertation was changed for the postgraduate student, and the compliance of the first stage of the research work “Place of armed violence in the system of power relations” to the terms of reference was approved.

At the end of the meeting, the chairman of the Academic Council of LTSNU Vitalii Kurylo congratulated teachers and employees on their jubilees in 2017.
