Students of our University continue their education in the “School for young leaders: the ability and skills to build a civil society in the realities of a small city.”
Within the framework of the project “Ukrainian Regional Platform of Public Initiatives”, with the financial support of the European Union and with the assistance of LTSNU, the Luhansk regional public organization “Luhansk regional public initiative” and the Initiative group “Public education” organized the project “School for young leaders: the ability and skills to build a civil society in the realities of a small city. ” The main goal of the organizers was the formation of an active citizenship among the youth of Starobilsk city, the desire to initiate changes in their community.
The students of our University actively joined the action. During the training, the project participants learned about the mechanisms of the activities of public associations, features of team formation, got the skills of organizing an active dialogue, and also developed their own projects for participation in the competition.
The youth of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University prepared 10 project proposals for the development and improvement of the local community. The students’ ideas were aimed at youth leisure and improvement of the city’s infrastructure. Also, participants drew attention to environmental problems and the relevance of a healthy lifestyle.
The winners of the contest visited Kyiv, where they met with representatives of public organizations, students from the National Technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute named after Igor Sikorsky” and Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman, representative of the Organization “Luhansk Community”, the regional coordinator of the coalition of leading public organizations and Experts of Ukraine “Reanimation package of reforms” Ivan Emelian, the expert of the department of budget policy of the Center “Eidos” Serhii Karelin. Also they presented their city’s development projects to the people’s deputy of Ukraine Vitalii Kurylo. Vitalii Semenovych promised to get acquainted with the developments and support youth initiatives.
Graduates of the project created an initiative group “INVENTORS”, whose goal is to improve the youth sector of society. Also the embodiment of the next idea of the participants of the “School for Young Leaders: abilities and skills to build a civil society in the realities of a small city” was the Charity Ward, which recently started on the territory of the city park in Starobilsk city. Students of our University organized a systematic collection and exchange of things that their owners no longer enjoy. The stylized box, which the participants created with their own hands, added an unrivaled atmosphere of unity and charm.
After the end of the action, the collected items will be provided to families who need help and support. Everyone can join the event on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 11:00 to 18:00.
The work of the graduates of the School for Young Leaders continues. Students have many ideas for implementation, continue to work on the implementation of their own developments and assure that the key to success is unity and the desire to change the native city for the better.
