University Administration Meeting

A regular meeting of the University Administration took place at the University.
Two main issues were on the agenda:
- the work of the University Social Service on the socio-psychological adaptation of students and displaced persons;
- the implementation of the decisions of the University Administration in the academic year 2016-2017.
E.G. Dorogavtseva spoke about the work of the University Social Service on the socio-psychological adaptation of students and displaced persons. Having heard and discussed the report of the head of the Student Social Service Sector of the Law Department, the University Administration noted that the Student Social Service Sector of the University implements the state youth policy; Provides socio-psychological services and assistance to students, student families, displaced persons; Contributes to the improvement of the financial situation of students; Social and psychological adaptation of student youth and displaced persons; Carries out social prevention, social patronage, social rehabilitation of student youth; Provides the needs of the individual in creative self-realization and self-improvement.
The Student Social Service Sector works closely with public organizations, charitable foundations and centers. Given the realities of today, the Student Social Service Sector has expanded the range of impact sites. These are military men who have been demobilized from the war zone; Persons affected by the fighting, internally displaced persons – both children and adults.
The volunteer work is one of the activities of the Student Social Service. The university volunteers participate in the mentoring program “Big Brother” in order to support children whose parents died during military events in the east of Ukraine.
The socio-psychological direction of the work of the Student Social Service Sector includes psycho-preventive work among students and teachers; Psycho-diagnostic work among students; Psycho-corrective, advisory and educational work.
Within the framework of the project “Psychosocial stabilization of victims of conflict in Ukraine”, the Center for Psychosocial Adaptation in the city of Starobilsk has carried out work on the adaptation of university students and displaced persons. A series of training seminars was conducted, in particular on the prevention of professional burnout, a series of classes aimed at developing self-presentation skills and identifying their own positive traits that help overcome difficulties, etc.
With the assistance of the Malta Assistance Service of Ukraine, the University has four certified trainers to teach the basics of providing first aid.
The project “International Alert” is implementing in the village of Polovinkino (Starobilsk district) under the patronage of the Student Social Service, with the financial support of the European Union’s program “Consolidation of efforts to prevent and overcome the consequences of domestic violence”. Student youth in the mobile brigade carried out several visits and conducted art-therapeutic master classes for children, adolescents and adults.
At the same time, the University Administration noted unresolved problems in the work of the Student Social Service, among them insufficiently effective cooperation with the university’s separate subdivisions on social and socio-psychological work and the difficulties associated with attracting faculties and institutes outside the city of Starobilsk to cooperation.
Nadiya N. Karlova made a report on the implementation of the decisions of the University Administration in the academic year 2016-2017. Having heard and discussed the report of the acting academic secretary of the University, positive work was carried out to implement the decisions of the Starobilsk Humanitarian and Pedagogical College, the College of LTSNU, Lysychansk Pedagogical College, the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, the Educational and Research Institute of Culture and Arts, the Educational and Research Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technologies, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications. It is recommended that other structural subdivisions be instructed to implement the decisions of the University Administration to a logical and effective conclusion.
