“My Family in Vyshyvanka”

The results of the photo contest “My Family in Vyshyvanka” dedicated to the 11th All-Ukrainian Vyshyvanka Day were summed up at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
Vyshyvanka Day is the All-Ukrainian holiday, designed to preserve the folk traditions of creating and wearing ethnic embroidered clothes.

Vyshyvanka became for us not just clothes, a trade mark or a work of art. Ukrainian embroidery is a kind of family charm, a symbol that has passed through generations. Having such beauty at home, we get the energy of our ancestors, are proud of the past and proudly look to the future. Such a charm for mothers creates for their children, because many symbols of power, well-being, beauty and amulets are encoded in the embroidered shirt.

The photo contest “My Family in Vyshyvanka” at our university was founded last year. The main “hero” of the photographs was embroidered. This year, in the same way as in the past, many personal photos, photos with friends and relatives in embroideries came to the e-mail of the organizers of the competition.

All works were evaluated by the jury, which included: O.S. Meniailenko, G.B. Komirenko, A.V. Bugaevskaya, V.P. Moroz, A.Yu. Zvereva and O.A. Chernysh.

“The idea to organize a photo contest arose last year. It was so successful that a large number of people responded to it. As a result, we decided to organize this action every year and make it traditional”, –  the chairman of the competitive commission, the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work O.S. Meniailenko said.

The first place for the work “Vyshyvanka Garden” was taken by Natalia Igorevna Girenko, Assistant Professor of the Department of Production and Professional Education.

The second place for the work “Big Family of IPP” was received by the staff of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology.

The honorable third place for work under the name “Luhanshchina is my song” was taken by the engineer-programmer of the Department of Computer Polygraphy and Design of LNU Olena Esaulova.

The winners of the contest were awarded with certificates and sweets.

The active participation of the jury was also noted by the LTSNU College and the Starobilsk Humanitarian and Pedagogical College.

Congratulations to the winners! We are waiting for new patriotic photos next year!
