15.5.2017
Students and teachers of LNU took part in the discussion platform “War and myth: what is war for you?”.
The discussion platform took place in the Luhansk Regional Universal Library named after M. Gorky. The residents of Starobilsk city, military, active citizens, as well as student youth participated in the event. The moderator of the platform was the Deputy Director for Social and Humanitarian Work of the Educational and Research Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technologies of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Vadym S. Plyasov.
During the active dialogue, everyone present could express their thoughts on the historical memory and fate of our region during the Second World War. Participants shared memories of relatives who witnessed tragic events, and emphasized that war is a bloody tragedy of humanity.
According to the staff of the Luhansk Regional Universal Library named after M. Gorky, an important stage of the discussion platform was the promotion of ideas about ways to unite people around the historical truth. The atmosphere of mutual understanding and mutual respect that prevailed during the conversation, contributes to encouraging the community to an informal format of communication.
The work of the discussion platforms continues. The next meeting, which will be devoted to the 80th anniversary of the Great Terror – mass political repressions of 1937 – 1938, will be held on May 24 at 10:00.
