Memory in the heart of the people does not fade

Teachers and students of the University took part in regional celebrations dedicated to the Victory Day over Nazism in World War II.

The Second World War became a bloody nightmare of the twentieth century. The sad pages of 1939-1945 are examples of courage, heroism and invincibility of the spirit of generations. Remembering the feat of our compatriots, in the central square of the city celebrations took place, attended by representatives and students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

Choreographic performance of schoolchildren of Starobilsk district reminded those present about the terrible events of the past, love for the Motherland and the indestructible faith of the war participants in the victory. Letters written by the military to their relatives became the central symbol of the composition, embodying the unity of generations.

Schoolchildren, teachers and residents of Starobilsk, public activists, representatives of local authorities paid tribute to the memory of those killed by a minute of silence. Everyone who died, regardless of nationality, contributed to the establishment of peace on the planet and the continuation of civilization.

Participants of the All-Ukrainian children’s and youth military-patriotic game “Jura” continued the event and marched through the city square.

At the end of the celebrations in the city square, schoolchildren presented flowers to war veterans and thanked for the feat, which was forever engraved in the people’s memory.

After the festivities, a column of representatives of labor collectives, veterans of war, veterans of Afghanistan, defenders of Ukraine moved to the park of culture and rest to the memorial of Eternal Glory. Teachers, staff and students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University joined the column.

Words of gratitude to veterans and congratulations on the Victory Day were expressed by the Chairman of Starobilsk District State Administration A.I. Garkavy, representatives of the military-tactical group “Luhansk”, the Chairman of the Starobilsk Regional Organization of Veterans and schoolchildren of Starobilsk district. They noted that World War II became a model of courage and a symbol of grief, accentuated the attention that the Ukrainian people suffered heavy losses that it is impossible to forget for the younger generation.

As a sign of the unfading memory of the heroic deed of the soldiers-liberators to the eternal fire, the Glory Hall and the Common Grave were laid garlands of Glory and flowers from the District State Administration, District and City Councils, enterprises, organizations, residents of Starobilsk land, students and lecturers of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

Military events have long been over, a new generation of people has grown up, but the war crimes of the Second World War continue to worry our hearts. All of us have preserved and carried through the years a grateful memory of those who protected us, saved us from Nazism and fascism, brought peace to the peoples.
