Ukraine-China: dialogue of cultures

On April 25-26 and 28-29, the 8th International scientific conference “Ukraine-China: dialogue of cultures” and the 7th International scientific-practical conference “Modern Trends of Oriental Studies” were held in Poltava in the framework of the university Science Days.

The dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Ivan Karpenko greeted the participants. Welcome letters to the participants of the conference had been sent by a well-known Professor of Arabic language Akram Jawad Tanun from the University of Granada, Spain and Ugur Tetik Tike, ex.-director of the LNU Turkish Center.

The reports of teachers, researchers, students and undergraduates were devoted to topical issues of contemporary oriental studies, modern linguistics, methodology of teaching foreign languages ​​and sciences related to them.  In the spirit of the time were the issues raised in talks  on national-patriotic, civic and moral education of today’s youth in  Ukraine, China and the countires of the Far East. Important linguistic aspects of Chinese, Turkish and Japanese languages ​​were raised in the reports of such students as Dziuba E ,Chebotareva O. and Kozub O.

Educators from China, Poland, Turkey and the United Kingdom submitted results of their research to the conference.

The results of the conference had been summed up by the head of the Department of Oriental Languages Nataliya Fedichefa.   According to her, the conference made it possible to focus on pressing issues of oriental studies. She also stressed that a good tradition of holding such  conferences will continue. All participants of the conference received certificates.
