Today, students and teachers of Luhansk National University have joined the All-Ukrainian environmental action “Let’s Make Ukraine Clean Together”.
The annual spring cleaning was organized by the country’s public organization “Let’s do it, Ukraine” – a participant in the global movement “Let’s Do It! World”, uniting about 17 million people in 113 states, which annually on the selected day go for cleaning in their country. The main goal of the action is the spread of the volunteer movement, the formation of a culture of careful attitude to the environment among the population of Ukraine, the correct treatment of waste, the unification of society, government, business and the media to analyze the spontaneous landfills.
In Starobilsk, the organizers of the ecological event were: Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, “The Creative University” team, the Public Center “Diyeva Hromada”, the Petro Poroshenko’s Block “Solidarity”, the Charity Fund “Luhansk Charity”, the Center for Psychosocial Adaptation of Starobilsk, the Civil- Military Cooperation, NGO “Let’s do it, Ukraine” – participant of the global movement “Let’s Do It, World”, as well as the Luhansk Regional Universal Scientific Library named after. For young volunteers, an entertainment program was organized, the children had fun with animators, played interesting games and learned the culture of respect for nature.
The students and teachers of the LTSNU played a big role in cleaning up the city. More than 70 representatives of our University, including members and chairman of the student government, joined the action and became active participants of the action. They with other volunteers split into teams and worked in five locations: the central beach, the Victory’s 30th Anniversary Park, the pontoon and suspension bridges, and the territory near Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
The coaches on the first aid from the Center for Psychosocial Adaptation took part in the event. They provided medical assistance to participants in the environmental action.
After completion of cleaning, a group of Civil-Military Cooperation organized a corporate field kitchen and treated everyone with traditional dishes: porridge and delicacies. Especially interesting was the lottery, where interesting and useful prizes were played out.
The All-Ukrainian environmental action “Let’s Make Ukraine Clean Together” has become a large-scale event in the city of Starobilsk. More than 100 people took part in the action, including students, pupils, local residents and displaced persons. Volunteers collected more than 400 kilos of garbage.
