Algebra Olympiad
27.4.2017
The University hosted the VI Student Algebra Olympiad dedicated to the memory of V.M. Usenko.
The Olympiad is dedicated to the memory of the outstanding Ukrainian algebraist, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Vitaliy Usenko, who worked at our University from 2001 to 2006. Vitaliy Mykhailovych made a significant contribution to the development of algebra. In particular, on the initiative of Professor V.M. Usenko, with the support of the University Administration, there was organized the world-famous international journal “Algebra and Discrete Mathematics” in 2002, which since 2012 has been included in the international scientometric database Scopus.
The Olympiad is held in the form of an individual competition and has one round. Olympiad tasks have a general algebraic character and affect such classical sections of mathematics as general algebra, number theory, linear algebra, universal algebra. Some tasks are taken from the new modern mathematical directions – the theory of the dynoids and the theory of trioids.
This year the Olympiad was held in a mixed full-time and distance mode. The first-year master student Anna Solyanik became the leader of the current Olympiad.
We congratulate the winner and wish all the participants further success!
