Scientific and Practical Conference

The University hosted the All-Ukrainian scientific and practical conference with international participation “The Second Modern and the Changing Nature of Military Conflicts.”

The event was organized by the teachers of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology of the Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations, Social and Political Sciences with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Luhansk Branch of the Sociological Association of Ukraine, the Center for the Study of Social Processes and Humanities, Donetsk National Technical University, Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University and Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University.

The Director of the Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations, Social and Political Sciences L.Ts. Vakhovsky and the Head of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology of LTSNU I.F. Kononov addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. The scientists noted that the conference united teachers from many regions of Ukraine, is an important step on the way to cognition and analysis of contemporary events.

The conference was started by the Doctor of Sociological Sciences I.F. Kononov, presenting a report on the theme “Second Modern War: reality and ideological form.” Turning to the history and opinions of scientists with a world-wide name, Ilya Fedorovych analyzed the concept of “hybrid war”, its causes and consequences.

The speech of Professor of the Department of Sociology of Culture and Communication of St. Petersburg State University V.I. Ilyin, who with the help of online technologies made a report “From the layman to the “passionary”: traits to the social strength of the social and political conflict” was cognitive and especially expected.

The continuation of the scientific event was a round table devoted to the war in Donbass as a precedent event of the transition to the Second Modern. Teachers from the Carpathian Uman and Luhansk took part in the discussion. The next work continued in three sections: the second modern: conflicts in the states and between the states; Hybrid wars and wars of the fourth generation; Methodological approaches to the study of hybrid wars.

The final meeting was attended by teachers of LTSNU. The Doctor of Sociological Sciences Illya Kononov  summarized the results of the conference. According to the head of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology, the conference united the educators of the international community, gave an opportunity to once again focus on topical issues of military conflicts, which in our time are changing and acquiring new characteristics.
