“Japan: The Samurai World”

Students and teachers of the University took part in the public lecture “Japan: The Samurai World”.

The public lecture “Japan: The Samurai World” was held at the Luhansk Regional Universal Library named after M. Gorky. It was conducted by the Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of World History and International Relations of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Oleksandr Naboka. The event was held within the framework of the Year of Japan in Ukraine, which continues in 2017.

The participants got acquainted with the historical conditions of the formation of Japanese civilization, myths about the origin of the world, the code of Japanese samurai warriors (bushi-do). The highlight of the lecture was the reconstruction of the suicide ritual – hara-kiri, widespread in Japan during the Middle Ages.

Students of the Institute of International Relations Anastasia Yuhmina and Anastasia Rudneva, who acted as assistant lecturers, took an active part in the event. The event was prepared in cooperation with the Luhansk Regional Universal Library named after M. Gorky (S. Letuchiy) and the Department of World History and International Relations of the LTSNU (A.V. Naboka).
