University Administration Meeting

The regular meeting of the University Administration took place at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

There were two main issues on the agenda:

• the state and prospects of the Faculty of Natural Sciences;
• the state and prospects for development of the Rubizhne O.Ye. Porai-Koshytsia Polytechnic College of LTSNU.

N.Yu. Matzai made a report on the state and prospects of the Faculty of Natural Sciences. After hearing and discussing the report of the Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, the rectorate noted that during the last three years there was a reduction in the general contingent of the students of the Faculty, which was caused by the expulsion of foreign students, the expulsion of students who refused further education and reduced the number of applicants for the bachelor’s degree.

During the preparation for the 2017 admission campaign, the specialty 201 Agronomy for Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees was licensed at the Faculty.

Teachers and students of the Faculty take an active part in all-university vocational guidance trips and the Applicant Days. In 2017, the regional contest on biology, geography, and chemistry was launched to attract talented young people to study at the Faculty.

In 2016 – 2017, the structure of student self-government was reorganized at the Faculty. During the current academic year, students of the Faculty took part in sports competitions and educational events: “Dedication to the Cossacks”, Day of Remembrance for the victims of the Holodomor, meeting with representatives of the military-civil cooperation group, flashmob “Respect the Native Language”, Maslenitsa Festival, University Day, Evening “Shevchenko’s way”. Also they organized and held the Health Day, the theatrical performance “Winter Feast” for the military men, the contest “Ecological Christmas Tree”, the action “With Love to Ukraine”, the meeting with the poet F. Tarasenko, flashmob “With love to the FNS”, the environmental action “Save the Forest”, etc. At the initiative of the student government, the student newspaper “Prirodnichy Visnyk” was published.

At the same time, the University Administration noted unresolved and problematic issues in the work of the Faculty.

M.M. Chumak made a report on the state and prospects for the development of the Rubizhne O.Ye.Porai-Koshytsia Polytechnic College. Having heard and discussed the report of the Acting Director of the College, the University Administration noted that the College is working on the formation of professional competencies of 808 students in the educational and qualification level of the junior specialist in the specialties: “Economics”, “Accounting and Taxation”, “Entrepreneurship, Trade and Exchange Activities”, “Computer Engineering” , “Branch machinery”, “Electric power engineering, electrical engineering and electromechanics”, “Chemical Technologies and Engineering (manufacturing of products and coatings from polymeric materials)”, “Chemical Technology and Engineering (production of high-molecular compounds), Food Technologies, Construction and Civil Engineering and Road Transport.

The College has a strong material and technical base and its own infrastructure, computer base, proper living conditions in the hostel. A long-term cooperation were established with the production enterprises of the chemical as well as oil and gas processing industries, where production practices are being conducted.

At the same time, the University Administration noted unresolved and problematic issues in the work of the College.
