Curatorial Hour

The Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports held a curatorial hour.

The event was dedicated to the theme: “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National Institute – history, current state, development prospects”. The report was made by A.P. Poltavsky, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and Methods of Physical Education, Honorary Professor of the University.

The speaker gave an analytical review of the university’s development. He stressed that LNU was founded on March 1, 1921, and stressed the main stages of development. The status of the national university was conferred by the Order of the President of Ukraine in September 2003. LNU trains specialists in more than 100 specialties of different directions. Before the war in 2014, the University had almost 20,000 students.

One of the structural subdivisions of the University is the “Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports”. In April 1947, the Faculty of Physical Education was founded, which later became the Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports. This year there is a significant date – the 70th Anniversary. At present, the Institute trains specialists in physical education, sports, human health, and physical rehabilitation. During its existence, the Institute has trained about 20,000 specialists.

In the current conditions, LTSNU and the Institute are going through hard times, but the LTSNU Administration, the Head of the Supervisory Council, the Verkhovna Rada Deputy V.S. Kurylo are doing everything possible to fulfill the task of training specialists in different areas. Luhansk National University was, is and will be one of the leading universities in Ukraine.
