The Research Library received interesting books

The Research Library received many modern, interesting and useful books.

On March 20, 2017, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University was visited by the teachers of the Kennan Institute’s Kyiv Office with a series of open lectures (with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) within the framework of the Ukraine Confidence Building Initiative (UCBI)).

Kateryna Smagliy (Director of the Kennan Institute’s Kyiv Office) spoke about the development of Ukrainian-American relations and the opportunities that exist today for active youth, students and teachers regarding cooperation with the Fulbright Foundation. Natalia Vysotska (Kyiv National Linguistic University) transferred the listeners to the multicultural world of modern American literature. Natalia Musienko (Kennan Institute’s Kyiv Office) immersed students and teachers in the world of intercultural communication and cultural diplomacy with examples of effective search for ways to dialogue and reconciliation.

Within the framework of cooperation between LTSNU, Kennan Institute’s Kyiv Office and the mediation of the International Department of the University, the Library received many modern and interesting books that will be useful to future leaders.

Among them was Volodymyr Fedorin’s book “Goodbye, Empire. Conversations with Kakha Bendukidze” as an attempt to systematize the views of an outstanding Georgian reformer who worked closely with Ukraine during the last months of his life.

Also, we received the works of Nobel Prize winners including Svitlana Aleksievych, Malala Yusufzai and Christina Le; the best novel of the decade of the Laureate of the International Literary Competition “The Coronation of the Word” Volodymyr Lys “Jacob’s Century”; the Book of the year according to Financial Times “Capital in the Twenty-First Century” by Thomas Piketty and many others.

We thank our guests and hope for the future cooperation!
