Gold Medals

The University received gold medals for the presented projects at the VІІІ International Exhibition “Modern Educational Establishments – 2017”.

Two projects “Technology of social and educational work with juvenile convicts in special educational institutions” and “Innovative approaches in educational institutions in the process of forming a personality and education of a citizen-patriot”, represented by LTSNU at the Eighth International Exhibition “Modern Educational Establishments – 2017” in Kiev, received gold medals in the thematic nominations “Modern Socio-Psychological and Pedagogical Technologies for Supporting Children and Adults in a Crisis Situation” and “Innovative Approaches in Educational Institutions in the Process of Forming a Personality and Education of a Citizen-Patriot” respectively.

 

The project “Technology of social and educational work with juvenile convicts in special educational institutions”, submitted for the contest, was the result of a ten-year partnership between Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine in reforming the penitentiary system on the principles of humanization, pedagogy and social reorientation of the process of appointing and serving sentences.

Since 2005, the social and educational work with juvenile convicts is one of the priority areas of the comprehensive scientific topic of the Department of Social Pedagogy of LTSNU and the Research Center for Social Pedagogy and Social Work of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, established on its basis.

In 2009, the Department won a contest for the implementation of a fundamental research at the expense of the general state budget fund called “Socio-pedagogical work with juvenile convicts in penitentiary institutions”, which lasted three years – from 01.01.2010 to 31.12.2012. For three years of the project implementation, the system of social and pedagogical work with juvenile convicts in penitentiary institutions in Ukraine was justified, developed and tested experimentally. More than 50 scientific articles, 1 monograph, 4 teaching manuals were published; one doctoral thesis was defended; 90 persons were trained among the personnel of institutions that belong to the management of the State Penitentiary Services of Ukraine in social and pedagogical activity. Eighteen convicts, who have served and continue serving their sentence in educational and correctional colonies, received higher education.

From 2013 to 2016, the disseminated experience is disseminated through scientific and methodological manuals and methodological developments in all penitentiary institutions in Ukraine. This is facilitated by membership of the authors and executors of the project including Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Social Pedagogy S.Y. Kharchenko and Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Director of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology O.L. Karaman in the Scientific Council of the SPS of Ukraine.

The purpose of the project is to substantiate scientifically and methodically, develop and describe the experience of introducing technology of social and educational work with under-age convicts in special educational institutions.

The scientists developed content, forms and methods, methodological and information support for educational (legal, labor, moral, aesthetic, physical, sanitary, hygienic, religious education) and social (organization of interaction between subjects of social and educational work of the colony and the region and society, restoration of social status, family and useful social ties, creating conditions for employment after release from prison) work with convicts.

The developers of the project “Innovative approaches in educational institutions in the process of forming a personality and education of a citizen-patriot” are the teachers of Lysychansk Pedagogical College of LTSNU under the leadership of G.M. Minenko, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Honored Education Worker of Ukraine, Director of the College.

The goal of the studio is to describe the practical application of the innovative information sphere of the College for the realization of tasks of forming a personality, a specialist, a patriot, a citizen.

The teaching staff of the College has an ideology of e-learning, uses innovative approaches to teaching, the blogosphere, MOODLE-courses, off-line lectures, modern technologies, virtual environments for collaborative learning, etc.

It was an interesting experience in the College to work on electronic manuals in co-authorship (model of teacher-student). Usage of the latest approaches (on the models of the teacher-author, teacher-student) allows to increase the effectiveness of the educational process.

Teachers use the capabilities of Smart-boards, dialogs, role games, imitation techniques, web-quests technology, the Geogebra platform for building 3d models, create virtual environments – develop sites on the Google platform, use visual design technology, inject online testing, trainings, modern technologies of “inverted learning”, Gamification, STEM-technologies.

In the educational process, the teachers approve training sessions, where a teacher uses distance-learning environments that can meet the student’s needs. Among such environments is the AppLearning platform, where teachers create test tasks, questionnaires, flash cards. The use of such platforms expands the teacher’s capabilities, creates additional virtual spaces to maintain communication.

The College uses the learning environment MOODLE, which allows for distance learning; teachers developed training courses that are filled with relevant content for successful mastering of knowledge in the discipline. The range of opportunities that this educational environment provides is wide.

Each product that is used in practice goes through the discussion stage at the sessions of the cycle commissions, among the community of specialists, and also the opinion of the student-user of the service is studied. Thus, the evaluation of educational technology, virtual environment are carried out. The positive feedback assessment is an important step for the further use of the product and determining its effectiveness. This innovative and diverse activity provides the basis for the preparation of a competent, competitive specialist capable of providing the labor market in the information society.

In the general system of organizing the national-patriotic education of future teachers and educators in the conditions of the Pedagogical College, one can single out such innovative directions:

  • holding practical works, didactic games at studying of educational disciplines of the professionally oriented cycle with application of multimedia technologies and video materials;
  • organization of various types of practical training (outside educational work, pilot classes and lessons) with the involvement of students in the independent preparation and conduct of appropriate activities for national and patriotic education;
  • creation of a portfolio of educational events, educational projects in accordance with the themes proposed by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, etc.

The teaching staff plans to expand the range of activities of civil-patriotic formation of a future specialist, formation of a creative personality, development of leadership potential in building a new Ukrainian society, creation of the unified Ukrainian nation.
