Paths of the Great Kobzar
15.3.2017
Every year on March 9-10, Ukraine marks Shevchenko’s Days. Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University has its own tradition of honoring Kobzar’s memory.
This is a solemn procession and laying flowers to the monument, reading poems, holding creative competitions, scientific and practical conferences…
This year, students and teachers of the Educational and Research Institute of Culture and Arts took part in the festive activities organized by the national scout organization of Ukraine “Plast”. As part of the program, the participants visited Cherkassy – the small homeland of Kobzar: the village of Morintsy, where the future poet was born, and the village of Shevchenkovo (Kerelivka), where his childhood passed. Of course, participants visited the Black Mountains near Kanev, where the Great Kobzar was buried.
Probably every Ukrainian should visit these places at least once in his life in order to understand what the “seed” of the genius of Shevchenko grew out of and did not give rest the poet even when he was far away.
