The True Word of Shevchenko

The events to commemorate the memory of Taras Shevchenko were held in Starobilsk Humanitarian and Pedagogical College.

The history of every nation has names, washed with love and glory. Such an outstanding person is Taras Shevchenko, the innovator poet, who brought a new world of poetry, unique images, paintings and colors, unprecedented richness and breadth of themes, ideas, motifs, genre forms to the Ukrainian literature.

A great national thinker and creator is rightly considered a people’s prophet. Many generations of Ukrainians formed their views on his works. Shevchenko inspires, Shevchenko encourages us to reflect on our lives and our own actions, and Shevchenko brings up. So today the student youth of the College once again united around Shevchenko to learn how to live with dignity, to love native land and to respect native language.

From March 1 to 10, the Shevchenko days were traditionally held in the College. So, representatives of the student self-government created a wall newspaper-chronicle called “Shevchenko days in the College”, which tells about the tradition of honoring the memory of the Great Kobzar by students of the educational institution in different years.

On March 3, teachers of foreign literature and English language conducted an extra-curricular event using the project technology “Shevchenko’s World Greatness”. Students of the College were invited to take part in the project on the following topics: “Recognition of Taras Shevchenko’s talent in the world”, “Creativity of Taras Shevchenko through the eyes of outstanding figures of world art”, “Taras Shevchenko’s works in the languages ​​of the world”, “Taras Shevchenko’s works in English”.

On March 6, at the initiative of the cycle commission of the philological disciplines of the College, Shevchenko readings were held. Participants of the event were students majoring in “Primary Education” and “Preschool Education”. They made reports on the topics: ” Taras Shevchenko’s works in the circle of children’s reading”, “The pedagogical views of Taras Shevchenko”, “The phraseological wealth of Taras Shevchenko’s works”, “The works of Taras Shevchenko – encyclopedia of the Ukrainian history”, etc.

On March 6, E.S. Kovpak held a lesson from the series “Outstanding personalities in the history of Ukraine and the world” in the form of the intellectual game “Experts on the life and creative path of Taras Shevchenko”. During the intellectual competitions, students had the opportunity not only to show knowledge of history and literature, but also to demonstrate the ability to solve logical problems and puzzles.

Creatively gifted students have replenished the treasury of fine and decorative art by products dedicated to Taras Shevchenko. They prepared illustrations for his works, applications of thread and fabric. And lovers of literary creativity wrote their own works on Shevchenko’s themes.
