Kobzar in the hearts of students

The Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences held events dedicated to the 203rd anniversary of Taras Shevchenko’s birthday.
The history of the formation of the Ukrainian nation cannot be imagined without the genius of the literary word Taras Shevchenko. Poetic heritage of the poet, recognized by the international community, is an invaluable wealth of our state.
Honoring the memory of the outstanding poet, students majoring in “Social Work” visited the Luhansk Regional Local Lore Museum, where they watched the exposition devoted to the life and creative path of the famous poet. The guide told the youth about the difficult childhood of Taras Shevchenko and the social and political situation on the territory of Ukraine at that time. The audience watched the presented exhibits, among which were collections of the legendary “Kobzar”.
Festive events were continued by the solemn curatorial hour for the second-year students majoring in “Sociology”. O.S. Petrenko told the students about Taras Shevchenko as an artist and emphasized the relevance of poetry in modern realities.
The second-year students majoring in “International Relations, Public Communications and Regional Studios” took part in the event “Little-known Taras Shevchenko”. The Deputy Director of the Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations and Social and Political Sciences A.V. Bader congratulated the youth, and the assistant of the Department of World History and International Relations V.A. Altukhov noted that Taras Shevchenko played an important role in the Ukrainian state building.
Students told little-known facts about the life of the poet, his sufferings and outstanding women, with whom the fate of the artist was connected. The most expected event was a teleconference with the Candidate of Historical Sciences A.V. Naboka, who spoke about arrests and exiles of the master of the literary word.
The poems of the student Yana Voronina impress by their sincerity. Her poetry is the call to the poetry of the Great Kobzar as the outstanding writer.
Myths and stereotypes of the life of the famous poet, imposed by political parties and regimes, were analyzed by students majoring in “History and Archeology” during the colloquium “Taras Shevchenko’s Phenomenon in Ukrainian Culture”. The event was organized by Ph.D. O.A. Sycheva, who together with the student youth prepared reports on the biography of the writer.
Interesting and original was the event, organized by the Candidate of Sociological Sciences K.M. Kotelenets. The students prepared and demonstrated solid presentations about the life and creative path of Taras Shevchenko. After that, they played a modified game Activity.
Participants created the appropriate maps in advance, which are associated with the famous poet. Svitlana Kuzmenko and Daria Cherevataya prepared a self-made poster and a portrait of the artist.
The next day the first- and second-year students of the Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations and Social and Political Sciences watched the film “Shevchenko. 200 years of loneliness.” This is a film about the life and work of the outstanding poet did not leave anyone indifferent, everyone present could find “his Shevchenko”. This video depicts previously unknown moments from the life of the artist, who, despite his popularity, remained a lonely man. The students once again got acquainted with the difficulties and vicissitudes of the life of the Great Kobzar, and discussed their attitude to the film.
The literary heritage of Taras Shevchenko is the golden fund of Ukrainian art. The memory of the outstanding poet will remain forever in the hearts of grateful descendants.
