The Institute of History Had the Third Classroom-based Session
3.2.2015
Institute of History had the third classroom-based session in spite of difficult military situation in the East of Ukraine.
Politologists, sociologists, some groups of historians, internationals and social workers were invited this time. The classroom-based session began with the general meeting at the Institute of History, International Communications and Socio-Political Sciences. During the week the students were listening to the lecturers, taking part in the seminars and consulting with the supervisors of coursed works and bachelor’s thesis.
This week was conclusive for the magistrands of “Country Study” specialty because master’s thesis defense was held on January 29. The defense included two stages: the students who managed to come to the university presented their works at 10 o’clock in the morning and the students from abroad or from the occupied territories defended their works at 12 o’clock via videoconference. It should be noted that the educational process is implemented in spite of borders and distances due to the modern technologies and the developed material base of LNU.
The Institute directorate prepared not only training but the extensive cultural program as well. Meetings with the teachers, collective watching and discussing of the movies have already become traditional. The students who had come to education beforehand took part in ceremonies dedicated to the anniversary of Starobilsk liberation from German fascists troops.
Directorate is looking for new forms to communicate with the students. For example, the Institute started the cycle of meetings called “With Historical Faculty in the Heart”. The idea of the event organizers is following: the Institute graduates of different years will present the pictures and the stories from their student life. Deputy director for socio-humanitarian issues Anton Bader reported at first. Anton Vasylovych demonstrated the pictures and told the stories describing academic, cultural, sport and private life of the students of the early 2000s. Unexpectedly for the organizers the magistrands of “Country Study” specialty expressed the desire to share their pictures. The event was held at high emotional level and completed with the Institute hymn execution.
So the difficult and busy work on education process arrangement in the new conditions began to bring significant results. Obviously there are all technical and staff resources for the implementation of quality education at the university. Work on classroom-based weeks is increased. So at the Institute of History, International Communications and Socio-Political Sciences the classroom-based sessions will be held once a month at the second semester. As a result the students start to fell that they are the part of academic, public and cultural university life.
