Ukrainian Canadiana

On February 21, the journalist Vakhtang Kipiani, chief editor of the online publication “Historical Truth”, gave an open lecture for students and teachers of our University.

It was about Ukrainian Canadiana – from the first immigrants, illiterate landless peasants, to the modern well-known politicians and businessmen.

According to the lecturer, the Ukrainians in Canada won the reputation of the great workers and activists to create a modern state. In particular, it was interesting to listen to the story about Christina Freeland, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, Ukrainian by birth. Students also learned about the Ukrainian names on the map of Canada (more than 500), and about the four-story sausages and cabbage rolls.

Vakhtang Kipiani addressed to students with a proposal to participate in the preparation of articles for the “Historical Truth” that interested them. After the lecture, they talked to the journalist, heard the answers to the questions and expressed hope for further meetings.
