Results of the Sports Week

The Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports summed up the Sports Week.

In the Rubizhne Industrial-Pedagogical Technical School (the city of Rubizhne) was held a traditional Open Armwrestling Championship of FSO “Spartak”. The chairman of the Sports Society “Spartak”, Director of the IPES Yuri M. Polulyaschenko addressed a welcoming speech and wished a fair fight.

Students of IPES majoring in “Physical Education” Serhii Shepitko (4year) and Vitalii Yurkov (II year) became champions of the region in their weight categories. The Competition Regulations anticipated fight of athletes both on the right and on the left arm. Vitalii was the strongest in the weight category up to 75 kg among “left-handed” athletes. Shepitko had no equal in the struggle on both hands (weight category up to 85 kg).

The chief referee of competitions, senior lecturer of the Department of Olympic and Professional Sports Oleksandr Dubovy awarded the winners with diplomas and medals of FSO “Spartak.”

On the same day on the basis of Children and Youth Sports School (the city of Starobilsk) was held the traditional 19th basketball tournament dedicated to the Day of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from the Republic of Afghanistan. The competition was opened by the Head of Starobilsk District Council Mykola O. Kulachka and the member of the fighting in Afghanistan Mykola O. Tishchenko.

Seven teams of Starobilsk district were declared to participate in the tournament. The combined team of LTSNU included two representatives of the IPES – the first-year students majoring in “Physical Education” Vitalii Kondratenko and Andriy Ukraintsev.

According to the results of the tournament, our university team took the second place, and the top scorer of the tournament was Vitalii Kondratenko. The team-winners and the best players were awarded with diplomas and cups from the organizers – the Department of Family, Youth and Sports of the Regional State Administration, the regional organization VFSO “Kolos”, the city organization FSO “Spartak.”
