Joint Meeting of the Academic Council and the University Administration

LTSNU held the joint meeting of the Academic Council and the University Administration.

The agenda included three main issues:

• the state and prospects of development of the Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations, Social and Political Sciences;
• the state and prospects of development of Starobilsk Humanitarian and Pedagogical College of LTSNU;
• approval of Rules of scholarships appointment at the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University”.

L.T. Vakhovsky spoke about the state and prospects of development of the Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations, Social and Political Sciences. Having heard and discussed the report of the Director of the Institute, the University Administration mentioned that the Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations, Social And Political Sciences provides training in specialties “History and Law”, “International Relations”, “Sociology”, “Politics”, “Social Work”.

 In 2016, the Institute enrolled 182 people, which is 55.6% more compared to the previous year. The educational process is provided by the five departments of the Institute. Their staff consisted of 34 full-time teachers, including 6 Doctors of sciences, Professors, 26 Associate Professors, accounting for 94.1%. The quality indicator of the teaching staff is high in all departments of the Institute.

Teachers of the Institute published 76 scientific papers. One PhD thesis is defended. The Department of Political Science and Law complied the competitive research project “Place of armed violence in the system of power relations” with grant support from the National Foundation for Basic Research. The scientific cooperation with foreign organizations and institutions intensified.

In the academic year 2016-2017, the social and humanitarian work improved. The activity of the student government was resumed. In the first semester were held traditional events: “Day of Health” competition “Hello, we are looking for talents,” “Dedication to Freshmen”, as well as public lectures of popular science nature, meeting the “The Legal Club.” At the initiative of the second-year students majoring in “International Relations” was held the evening of poetry. Students and teachers are actively involved in university activities.

However, the University Administration noted the unresolved issues and problems in the work of the Institute.

E.S. Kovpak spoke about the state and prospects of development of Starobilsk Humanitarian and Pedagogical College of LTSNU. Having heard and discussed the report of the Director of the College, the University Administration noted that the College is one of the most important links in the system of continuous education between educational institutions of different types and levels.

Starobilsk Humanitarian and Pedagogical College trains specialists on educational and qualification level of junior specialist in the fulltime and correspondence form of training in the specialties “Information, Library and Information Science”, “Primary Education”, “Pre-school Education” on the basis of the basic, general secondary education and the educational qualification of a skilled worker level, subject to the entrance to the related specialties.

The educational process in the College is provided by the college teachers and teachers of the University. The quantitative composition of the teaching staff consists of 36 people, 16 of them are working at the main place of work, 20 people – dual jobholder. Four full-time teachers have a PhD degree; five teachers are specialists of the highest category, three teachers – the first category, two teachers – the second category.

Particular attention is paid to the improvement of the professional level of teachers working with young professionals, certification of teaching staff, which is conducted in accordance with the schedule and the Rules of the certification of teachers.

The priority educational work of the College is the national-patriotic education in accordance with the concept of national-patriotic education of children and youth. At present, the system of national-patriotic education is a complex of individual elements (lines), which are realized through the educational system of tasks. So, the most striking educational measures are the following: voluntary actions, meeting with soldiers, members of the ATO; sports and tournaments for the Day of the Defender of Ukraine’s, Day of the Armed Forces; cycle of lessons of dignity, conducted by the representatives of the group of civil-military cooperation of the Armed Forced of Ukraine.

Despite the achievements, the University Administration noted the issues that require attention from the College Administration and the teaching staff.

The rules of scholarship appointment at the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” were approved at the joint meeting of the Academic Council and the University Administration.
