The January Edition of the Ranking Web of Universities

The January edition of Webometrics Ranking of World Universities 2017 was published.

Ranking Web of Universities determines the level of their presence on the Internet. The Cybermetrics Lab of the Spanish National Research Council («Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas», CSIC) under the Ministry of Science and Innovation of Spain develops this Ranking.  Developers announce it twice a year – in July and in January.

The ranking developers take into account the following indicators: the number of pages in the domain of the university (including all sub-domains and file types, PDF) according to Google; the number of external sources, containing backlinks to the University web pages, which is calculated by analyzing the service of external references and links Ahrefs.com and the analysis system for search engine optimization and marketing on the Internet Majestic; the number of citations of the leading authors according to Google Scholar; the number of articles by scientists working at the University, included in the top 10% most cited in 26 scientific areas on Scimago calculations.

In total, the ranking lists of January 2017 included 11 996 universities from around the world.

Among 341 Ukrainian universities present in the Ranking, our university took the 67th place. Among the higher education institutions in Central and Eastern Europe LTSNU occupies position 515, and in the European Rankings we got the place 1694. In addition, our university took place 4127 in the Continental Ranking, and 6403 – in the World Ranking.
