Concert of the Mixed Choir

The concert of the mixed student choir became the master’s diplomas defense for the choral conductors.

One of the highlights of the state examinations of master students majoring in “Musical Art” was a concert by the mixed choir of students of the Institute of Culture and Arts. The choral conductors defended their diplomas with this choir.

The mixed student choir has been existed for 17 years, since the establishment of the Institute of Culture and Arts. During this time the choir has presented its art not only at the concerts of the Institute and the University, but also outside: in joint projects with the Symphony Orchestra of Luhansk Regional Philharmonic, where it performed “Requiem” by G. Lagrange, “Ode to Joy” by K. Schmid, “Kursk Songs” by G. Sviridov, etc . Also students performed at the contests of choral art in Yalta, Kamyanets-Podilsky, Kyiv; concerts to the Day of Ukrainian Culture in Austria – Vienna, Eisenstadt, Innsbruck, Graz, Linz, where were performed “Requiem” by Mozart, the chorus of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.

This academic year was revived the tradition of open public examinations in the specialty «Musical Art», including specializations in the “Choral Conducting”, and the practice of spreading interest to the performing arts of our students among the indifferent public. The concert of the mixed student choir of the Institute of Culture and Arts (the head – Professor of the Department of Music Art and Choreography V.V. Yunda) took place in one of the most beautiful buildings, the architectural jewel of Poltava – the Regional Museum named after Vasyl Krychevsky.

The program included works of Ukrainian and foreign composers. The final culmination point of the concert was the performance of the work by Poltava composer, People’s Artist of Ukraine, conductor of the symphony orchestra of the Poltava Gogol Theater Vitaly Skakun “My Ukraine” for choir and soloists (the soloists were students of the ICA  Artem Zakharov and Anzhelika Kroshko).

The audience enthusiastically accepted the performance of young singers, and the museum leadership offered to continue the fruitful cooperation.
