The First Sporting Achievements in Powerlifting in 2017

Congratulations to master students of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports on the achievements at the Ukrainian Powerlifting Championships (classic bench press).

The first major launches in 2017, which took place in Kolomyia (Ivano-Frankivsk region), was successful was for men’s and women’s teams in powerlifting from Luhansk region. The competition gathered 160 athletes from all regions of the country.

Our athletes became champions in the team standings in the Ukrainian Bench Press Championship (without the use of special equipment),

The winners were the international master of sports Hanna Kadatska (the city of Popasna, 52 kg, the result – 90 kg) and the master of sports Olena Fedorenko (the city of Lysychansk, 57 kg, the result – 95 kg, which is a new record of Ukraine). The second place was taken by the master of sports from Luhansk Ksenia Prokhorova – 85 kg in the category up to 63 kg and the third place – the candidate for master of sports Yulia Grigorenko (the city of Severodonetsk, 70 kg in the category up to 72 kg). At the same time, Anna and Olena became first and second in the overall classification among all the participants of the Championship.

The men’s combined team ranked third. The athlete from Severodonetsk, international master of sports of Ukraine Sergii Parkhomenko was the best in the category up to 105 kg. The fight in this weight category was very acute. Three athletes in each attempt updated the record of Ukraine six times. As a result, our sportsman put the final point in this struggle – 223 kg. Serhii is a master student majoring in “Secondary Education. Physical Education” and is training under the guidance of the Director of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports, honored coach of Ukraine Yurii M. Polulyaschenko.

Another master student of the IPES, master of sports of Ukraine Serhii Dvortsov was second in the category up to 66 kg. It should be recalled that two months ago Serhii became the champion of Ukraine in the bench press among students with violation of the musculoskeletal system.

In the category of up to 120 kg, the second place was taken by another representative of the sport society “Spartak” – master of sports of Ukraine Mykhailo Shapovalov. He repeated his last year’s success.

Successful performance of athletes was made possible thanks to the fruitful work of the Luhansk Regional Powerlifting Federation, which is headed by the Head of the Department of Sports Disciplines of the IPES, honored coach of Ukraine Serhii M. Galiy.
