The Meeting of the Academic Council

The regular meeting of the Academic Council was held at LTSNU.

The agenda included two major issues:

• results of the university research activities in 2016 and tasks for 2017;
• results of the financial and economic activities of the University in 2016.

O.M. Klimochkina spoke about the results of the university research activities in 2016 and tasks for 2017. Having heard and discussed the report of the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, the Academic Council noted that in 2016 the activity of the teaching staff was aimed at restoring the research base of the University, improving the quality of personnel structure, integration of scientific research and educational activities.

Three doctoral and fifteen master’s theses were defended under the guidance of the university scientists. In three specialized scientific councils eight doctoral and eighteen master’s theses were defended.

The university held 7 international, 17 Ukrainian, 19 regional conferences. The separated subdivisions organized and conducted 11 scientific events (Lysychansk Pedagogical College of LTSNU, Rubezhansky Polytechnic College named after A.E. Poraj-Koshitsia, Brjanka College of LTSNU).

Traditionally the University held the first stage of All-Ukrainian Competition of Student Research Papers. Four students became winners of the All-Ukrainian Competition of Student Research Papers, one student – the winner of the II stage of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad. In addition, nine students of the University won other competitions (the International Contest “My Native Land”, the XVI International Contest of Ukrainian language named after Petro Yatsyk, the VI International Linguistic and Literary Contest named after Taras Shevchenko, the Open Competition of Students’ Research Works “Youth and Polygraphy”, the Regional Competition of Young Writers of Luhansk Region – 2015).

However, the Academic Council notes that there are certain difficulties and shortcomings in the organization of the university research.

O.I. Babichev spoke about the results of financial and economic activities of the University in 2016. Having heard and discussed the report of the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, the Academic Council noted that the financial and economic activity of the University in 2016 was carried out at the expense of the state budget, both general and special funds.

The general fund of the state university budget was used for salaries and the accrual grants, municipal needs, maintenance costs on full state support for orphans, acquisition of teaching materials and equipment, payment of one-time cash assistance to graduates of the University.

The funds raised through the provision of paid services and other sources of own revenues were used to pay wages with charge, repair, purchase of equipment for the educational process, utilities and maintenance of the university.

A certain part of the funds was used for the purchase of materials for the educational process, business trips and allowance for recovery and material assistance.

Among the miscellaneous were approved theses, reports of the separated subdivision “Rubezhansky Polytechnic College named after A.E. Poraj-Koshitsia of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University concerning accreditation activities to provide educational services in the field of higher education.

It is recommended to publish a collection of scientific papers on materials of the XIV Inter-regional Scientific Conference “Actual Problems of Biology and Medicine” and the collective monograph “From student initiatives – to the active citizen-patriot”. It is decided to expand the implementation of educational activities in the field of higher education at the level of qualification requirements to the second level (master’s) in the specialty 091 ” Biology “with a licensed capacity of 70 people.
