Gymnastics is one of the most spectacular and beautiful sports.

The prominent Ukrainian gymnasts: Viktor Chukarin, Boris Shakhlin, Larisa Latynina, Polina Astakhova and others repeatedly became champions and winners of the Olympic Games.

2016 – the Year of XXXI Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, and it was Ukrainian gymnast Oleg Verniaiev who became triumphant, winning Olympic medals (the silver medal in the all-around and the gold medal in exercises on uneven bars).

Students of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports are members of the Ukrainian national team in gymnastics. During 2016 students won medals of different samples in the All-Ukrainian and International competitions.

Eduard Ermakov won the silver medal in the all-around, silver medals in the floor exercise and won in exercises on rings in the Ukrainian Championship on March 14-18. On May 25-29, at the European Championship among youth in Switzerland he won the bronze medalist in the uneven bars.

Eugen Yudenkov became the undisputed champion in the all-around, got gold medals in exercises on the pommel horse and on the rings, and got the bronze in the floor exercises in the Ukrainian Championship. At the World Challenge Cup on April 8-10 in Ljubljana (Slovenia), he won the silver medal in exercises on the rings and parallel bars. At the Ukrainian Cup on June 14-17, 2016, he was a bronze medalist in the all-around. At the International Grand Prix Competitions on September 14-18 in Batumi Eugen won the bronze medal in the all-around and the silver medal in exercises on the pommel horse and uneven bars.

It is necessary to note the graduate of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports Maskym Semyankiv, who in the national team of Ukraine took part in the XXXI Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

We are proud of successful performances of our student-athletes in various sports and gymnastics as well. Therefore, we wish all the athletes in the following 2017 success, inspiration, and praise our Institute of Physical Education and Sports, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and our native Ukraine in International competitions.
