The University Celebrated the Day of Unification of Ukraine

On January 22 Ukraine celebrates the Day of Unification. Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University had a number of ceremonies as Taras Shevchenko always was a symbol of Ukrainian nation solidarity.

Since the morning a large collective of teachers and university staff took part in the holiday procession and floral offering to Kobzar monument.

It is symbolic that in this day of unification of Ukrainian people the university labor union committee organized students and teachers who wanted to donate blood for injured soldiers of ATO. Such event is one more confirmation of a strong desire to live in the united and indivisible country because a great number of soldiers who defense the east borders of our state are from the West regions of Ukraine.

During the day LNU students could visit a thematic exhibition prepared by the workers of the university library. The Department of Politology and Legal Science organized a round table for students and teachers to discuss problems connected with the Act of Joint, Ukrainian nation establishment and today political situation in Ukraine.

The ceremonies were ended late in the evening at the central town square where public activists organized teleconference bridge. Due to the modern technologies the university students and teachers had a possibility to communicate with Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv and soldiers of “Azov” battalion who are dislocated in Donetsk region.

So the day of January 22, 2015 demonstrated that external aggression only made the desire of Ukrainians to live in the united country stronger. Luhansk National University plays a significant role in this. The university justifiably bears a name of Kobzar because it was, is and will be the powerful center of Ukrainian culture in the East of our country.
