Donation Movement

Students of the Faculty of Natural Science popularize and support the blood donation movement.
One of the global problems of medicine is a blood shortage in health care. Every year, the World Health Organization conducts systematic activities aimed at drawing attention to the various problems of donation and ways to solve them. In 2016, the campaign theme – “Blood Connects Us All.” The main objectives of this year’s campaign:
- to raise public awareness of the need for regular unpaid blood donation and encourage people who still do not donate their blood, especially of young people in good health, to become donors;
- to draw attention to blood services at the level of individual communities and to the importance of community participation in the provision of adequate, safe and sustainable blood supply.
Our students of specialty “Laboratory Diagnosis” annually take an active part in promoting and supporting the actual donation movement. Students constantly donate blood on an unpaid basis for the needs of medicine on the basis of the blood transfusion department of Starobilsk RTMO.
The most active donors are:
- Oleksandr Belashevsky,
- Lilia Zatulina,
- Anastasiya Zhadan,
- Vadim Kucherenko,
- Svitlana Kudenko,
- Ivan Kolgan.
They regularly have given blood for several years, helping people whose lives have been threatened.
Active participation in the blood donor movement of students majoring in “Laboratory Diagnosis”, confirms the thesis that the multi-faceted medical education process, including both the actual questions accumulation of medical knowledge and the formation of the person of the physician. One aspect of this process is education of active civil position in physician health and social issues, including participation in the solution of this important issue as blood donation.
