“16 Days Against Violence”

On December 6, students of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology participated in the debate in the framework of the All-Ukrainian action “16 Days Against Violence.”
Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University is a European institution of higher education, which forms the modern, well-rounded individuals, professionals, aware of their role in the creation of the state and overcome the global problems of humanity.
The fight against violence is a relevant and important in today’s realities, given the prevalence of the phenomenon in space. The annual campaign “16 Days Without Violence” initiated by the First Global Women’s Leadership Institute in 1991 and is aimed at drawing public attention to the problems, urgent for the Ukrainian society – overcoming domestic violence, and promotion of the establishment of non-violent ideology of territorial communities and society as a whole.
The first-year and second-year students of specialty “Social Work. Social Pedagogy. Practical Psychology” of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology participated in a debate organized by representatives of the UN Refugee Agency in the framework of the All-Ukrainian action “16 Days Against Violence.” As the professional activity of future specialists is aimed at addressing conflicts of different social content, while meeting the students learned about the history of the action. The gender equality issues as well as the relationship between men and women and preventing violence against women were discussed.
Students watched short videos, which accentuated attention to the prevalence of the problem in the world, considered the types and forms of violence and ways to detect. Representatives of the UN Refugee Agency talked about ways of overcoming the global problem as well as provided a list of actions that are required in case of violence.
Teachers and students of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology annually support international and national actions to address the global problems of humanity and hope for further active cooperation with the UN Refugee Agency.
