LTSNU hosted events dedicated to the fight against AIDS.
The development of modern society requires the participation of all of us in the formation of the civilized world. The global problems facing humanity require urgent solutions and attract global attention. Among the topical issues that are a threat of the international scale, is the spread of the human immunodeficiency virus.
World AIDS Day – an occasion to draw public attention to the problems of HIV-infected people, to reflect on the possibilities of preventing the spread of disease and to focus attention on the importance of its timely diagnosis.
This day is the first received international recognition in 1988 at the initiative of the World Health Organization. This was the result of a call for social tolerance and the exchange of information with respect to the expansion of HIV / AIDS during the meeting of Ministers of Health of all the countries.
Students and teachers of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University are active participants in cultural and educational events and understand their own role in the development of our country. In order to emphasize the public’s attention on the problems of our time, adherence to the prevention of human immunodeficiency virus, a series of events dedicated to the fight against AIDS, which was organized at the initiative of the student government and Student Social Service of LTSNU.
Everyone was able to have a free and anonymous rapid testing for HIV infection in the medical center of the educational building number 1. This made it possible to diagnose the virus, which is a necessary condition for a successful fight against the disease.
Students and teachers of our University, as well as residents of the city of Starobilsk joined the action on the exchange of charitable funds on a red ribbon, the symbol of the anniversary. 2300 UAH were collected and transferred to the social worker of the fund “Mercy-Luhansk” in order to purchase medicines for HIV-infected.
The team of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University together with representatives of the Red Cross Society took part in the flash mob “Together We Will Win”, which became a symbol of hope and confidence in the successful overcoming all difficulties. Among the active participants of the event were students of the Educational and Research Institute of Economy and Business, Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications, College of LTSNU and the Educational and Research Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technology.
These events reminded once again that HIV-AIDS is not alien and distant, and requires urgent solutions and the participation of each in its overcoming.
