15 action steps for library leaders

The Staff of the Research Library attended a training for library leaders.

November 9, 2016 the Research Library staff participated in the training for library leaders, directors of the regional, district and school libraries from the representatives of the Ukrainian Library Association (Oksana E. Boyarinova) and the Executive Director of UCA (Yaroslava E. Soshinska).

The topics of the training were the following: “Action Plan for a New Vision of Your Library (The library trends of IFLA, 15 action steps for library leaders)”, “Who is the Main Customer of Your Library and How to Ensure a High Level of Service to Him.”

During the discussion of the action plan of new visions of the library was made a report of the participant of the World Library and Information Congress IFLA-2016, held in Columbus, Ohio, USA, from August 13 till 19, 2016. The information about 15 action steps for library leaders was important.

The second important issue was the organization and improvement of the work of the library staff, extension of the library service capabilities. They examined the orientation of each library to a specific group of readers, gave tips to improve customer service, improve service processes and improve service levels of the library clients.

During the training, were defined values by the practical way, which can be provided by the library through its product.

As a result, all the participants of the training received useful information to improve the quality of the library, improving service levels, found that the priority of the library is to meet the needs of its readers, the library extension services to cover as many categories of visitors as possible.

These seminars are extremely useful. We hope such trainings will be regular and useful. Thanks to the organizers and look forward to new meetings!
