“Slobozhanska Conversation”

Today, the Department of Ukrainian Philology and General Linguistics held a conference “Slobozhanskaya Conversation.”
The topical issues of linguistics were raised on the scientific event. The Doctor of Philology, Professor, Head of the Department of Ukrainian Philology and General Linguistics Kateryna Gluhovtseva opened the conference. In her report “The language of images – the Key to Understanding the Linguistic Categories” Kateryna Dmytrivna spoke about figurative utterances of the leading cultural figures, writers, famous teachers, devoted to language, through which creates a word-shaped visibility that helps reveal the essence of language and emphasizes its importance in life of the people.
During the plenary meeting, speakers drew attention to the particular strategies and tactics of communicants in the information instability; informed about the views of the scientists on the methods and techniques for the study of speech: the structural quality of dialects, surzhik speech. A lot of attention was paid to the analysis of the speech creativity of communicants, elucidating the role of the information space in forming the culture, the study of the organization of educational and communicative space in conditions of the bilingualism.
Scientists proved that the study of speech including dialect is relevant today due to the expansion of the information space of the Ukrainian language, the attempts of scientists to find the sources of linguistic mentality, tendencies of making dialect words and their forms literary in the literature of modern times, the reorientation of public views on the importance of dialect phenomena in the history of the literary language and language practice, transformations faced by the modern language of the media and literature.
The 3rd year student Karyna Riabokon made a report written on the basis of the dialectological practice, held in the last academic year in Bukovina, namely in the village of Yarovka of Khotyn district of Chernivtsi region. The researcher analyzed the dialect on the recorded material at different structural levels. As a result she showed a linguistic portrait of the dialect speaker – representative of the southwestern dialect.
The exploration of the senior pupil of Svatovo School Rostislav Dziuba was interesting too. He investigated the phenomenon of surzhyk. The speaker emphasized that comprehensive approaches to the study of surzhyk would contribute to the purification of Ukrainian language, overcoming colonial dependence on Russian language, and marginal inferiority complex.
This year’s conference was attended by guests and colleagues from Western Ukraine. These were educators of educational institutions. Thus, the Director of Zolochiv comprehensive school of I-III levels No.4 of Lviv region Olena P.Pavlishin (the city of Zolochiv, Lviv region), who presented to the audience a report on the work of her famous countryman – the writer Markiyan Shashkevych.
The teacher of the Shumbarsky educational complex of Shumsky district of Ternopil region Lyudmyla I. Melnichuk (the village of Shumbar, Ternopil region) represented an analysis of the epistolary heritage of Lesya Ukrainka.
The conference was also attended by representatives of the special battalion, who spoke about the history of their small homeland – Khmelnytsky region.
The geography of the conference is very broad. The articles and abstracts were sent by students and teachers of the Zhytomyr Ivan Franko State University, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, Vinnytsa State Pedagogical University named after Mykhailo Kotsiubynsky, Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University, Kamenetz-Podolsk Ivan Ohienko National University, Zhytomyr College of Trade and Economics, separate subdivisions of the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” (Starobilsk, Lysychansk).
