Table Tennis Tournament
2.11.2016
On October 26-27, Luhansk National University hosted the table tennis tournament.
Due to the resumption of the sport material and technical base, it became possible to expand the number of kinds of sport in which the competitions are held in the gym of the University. Through the acquisition of the tables for table tennis, competitions in this sport were organized. More than fifty students expressed their desire to take part in the individual tournament.
Fifteen girls were fighting for the victory in the tournament in a circular pattern. Last year Alyona Khudoley (IPES), Yulia Nedovesova and Kateryna Efremova (CLNU) showed good results. They were considered as the main contenders for victory in these competitions. But the freshmen Yulia Korotkova (SS RCPE), Oksana Domareva (CLNU) created intense competition and made the leaders be nervous and lose in some matches.
The most successful in the tournament was Yulia Nedovesova who confidently overcame her rivals and stood on the first step of the podium. Only in the final match “Domareva – Khudoley” girls played the other two places on the podium. The style of playing of both rivals was similar, they preferred the security option, so the match went on for a long time. Oksana Domareva’s nerves were stronger in this grueling duel; she won and took the second place. Alyona Khudoley took the third place.
Boys went to the victory by the way that was more difficult. First, they were distributed into three groups by drawing lots, then they determined the winners in each group. Next day, top six tennis players determined the winners and prizewinners of the personal tournament.
In the group competition Denis Korablev (RCPE) and Bohdan Vyaly (ICSTT), who came in the final six with 100% result, showed good playing. Also, the right to play in the six was won by Oleksii Podybailo (IPES), Roman Lozovoi (RCPE) and Yevgen Bondarenko (CLNU) in a tense struggle. Dmytro Verkhovod (IPES) also became a finalist, having won in his group.
The final games were exciting and uncompromising. Over-excitement did not allow showing good playing, and there is no victory without it. In the final game D. Korablyov and B. Vyaly competed for the first place. Denis Korablyov played more confidently and took the first place in the tournament. Bohdan Vyaly took the second place and Yevgen Bondarenko – the third place.
