How the University has Changed for the Last 5 Years

One more five-year plan has been completed successfully at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

In spite of Luhansk occupation and capture of main educational buildings of LNU the university has managed to implement the Conception of university strategic development started in 2009.

“For the last 5 years at the university about 20 useful model patents have been received, about 30 specialties have been opened in doctorate and post-graduate studies, joint educational projects with European universities have been created (University College of Social Sciences, Poland – Program “Double Diploma”), unhindered access to the quality education for students with limited possibilities has been organized and many others, – this was told at the university Academic Council. So Academic Council notes that the main tasks of Conception of university strategic development for 2009 – 2015 are 80-85% performed. Implementation of Conception programs is completed with positive result”.

However they noted at LNU that there were some points to work on in the first instance. “Today the issues of importance are national and patriotic education of students and formation of their civic position. Besides there is the necessity to increase work efficiency in the conditions of remote access. Also the work with the benefit-entitled students needs special attention. And, of course, the leading direction is still running events regarding European integration of Ukraine”, – it was told at LNU Rectorate.

Taking into account new conditions, profound changes in society and adoption of new Law on Higher Education, the formulization of new strategy of university development for 2015 – 2020 will be started in January of the next year.
