Day of the Defender of Ukraine

Students and teachers of LNU celebrated the Day of the Defender of Ukraine for the second time.

Day of the Defender of Ukraine is a public holiday, which is intended to honor all those who defend the territorial integrity of our country. The courage and heroism of defenders of independence, military tradition and victory of the Ukrainian people is an indispensable attribute of the holiday, which contribute to the strengthening of the patriotic spirit.

The festive day began with the fair, which was organized by students and teachers of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, Starobilsk Humanitarian Pedagogical College and the College of LTSNU. Everyone had the opportunity to communicate with friends and taste delicious.

The continuation of the celebration became a holiday on the occasion of the Day of the Defender of Ukraine and the dedication to the Ukrainian Cossacks. The event was attended by soldiers of the regiment of special purpose, representatives of the Luhansk border detachment and the delegation of Taras Shevchenko Chernihiv National Pedagogical University headed by the Vice-Rector for Scientific -Pedagogical and Educational Work A.G. Tymoshenko.

According to centuries-old traditions, in the beginning of the event the honored guests were awarded with a festive loaf as a symbol of respect, holiness and peace.

The Rector of LTSNU S.V. Savchenko addressed a welcoming speech to the present. “Cossacks Day, the holiday of the Holy Mother of God and the Day of the Defender of Ukraine is a tradition, which we respect, as this is the key to our victory”, – the Professor said.

Homeland Protection requires courage, honor, self-sacrifice and the enormous commitment. Luhansk National University always meet our defenders with an open heart and great love. During the celebrations, the servicemen were presented the flag of the native Alma-Mater with the emblem of LTSNU as a symbol of family talisman and spiritual unity.

On the eve of the Day of the Defender of Ukraine, students and teachers of the University prepared the gifts that were solemnly handed to the military men with a wish of indomitable will to overcome the difficulties of military life, reliable logistics and family good health.

October 14 is celebrated as the Day of Ukrainian Cossacks and the holiday of the Holy Mother of God, which for a long time is the patron of all the Ukrainian armed forces. The creative and freedom-loving spirit of our ancestors combines the modern Ukrainian society and is the embodiment of power and strength of the nation. On this day, the solemn dedication of students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University to the Cossacks. Boys proclaimed the oath and swore to be faithful to the state and the Ukrainian people.

The Supreme Ataman Cossacks Academy, Field Hetman in the ATO zone, General of the Cossacks Viktor N. Tkachenko congratulated all those present, called for unity for the sake of the rich and influential Ukraine and wished the victory.

The Rector of LTSNU S.V. Savchenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work O.I. Babichev and the Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology O.L. Karaman were awarded for the significant contribution to the adoption of measures to attract students to the military-patriotic education, organization of cultural and educational work among the youth, as well as preparation for military service and protection of the Fatherland.

The current generation is not only remembers Cossack customs and traditions, but also demonstrates the agility and physical fitness. Yaroslav Chepel, Oleksandr Soldatenko and Snezhana Napuda demonstrated persistence and courage. The present people were amaized by the high goals of Stanislav Komar’, who despite the difficulties reaches achievements, demonstrating the power of the spirit, the will and the desire to win.

At the end of the event was held a flash mob “My Motherland – Ukraine”, after which the audience were treated to a delicious meals.

Honoring the courage and heroism of the defenders of the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, military tradition and victories of the Ukrainian people contribute to the strengthening of patriotic spirit in society and is an essential component of modern education of a person.
